The spherical molybdenum powder

As an important intermediate of rare metal molybdenum, molybdenum powder (Mo) due to the strong reducibility, and often react with oxidant generated molybdenum oxide and sulfide molybdenum, molybdenum carbide and molybdenum and molybdenum compounds such as molybdenum chloride, fluoride these molybdenum compounds through a series of processing and then processed into molybdenum rods, molybdenum electrode, molybdenum bars, molybdenum products, etc.  However, because of the different shape of Mo powder, the physical and chemical properties and specific uses of molybdenum products are also different.  According to the different particle shape, Mo powder can be divided into spherical molybdenum powder and irregular molybdenum powder.  The basic information of spherical Mo powder is mainly introduced below.

1. Molybdenum powder's define  

It is a kind of metallic molybdenum in powder state, with chemical composition of Mo, Al, Ca, Cu, Ni, Si, Fe, Mg, C, N, O and other elements.  

2. Molybdenum powder's physicochemical properties  

The appearance is gray metal powder, with purity up to 99.95%, melting point 2622°C, boiling point 4825°C, density 10.3g/ mL, sphericity up to 98%, with good chemical stability, electric and thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance.  In addition, there are large specific surface area, excellent fluidity, high loose density and vibration density and other characteristics.  

3. Molybdenum powder's particle size distribution  

By using TopSizer laser particle size analyzer, the particle size of spherical molybdenum powder shows a single peak normal distribution, and it can be seen that the particle size is uniform.  

When the particle size is between 5-25um, D10 is 5-10um.  D50 for 15 to 20 um;  D90 is 20 to 25 um.  

When the particle size is 15-53um, D10 is 15-20um.  D50 for 25 to 35 um.  D90 for 45 to 50 um.  

When the particle size is between 45-75um, D10 is 45-55um.  D50 is 55-65 um;  Um D90 is 70-75.  

When the particle size is between 45-105um, D10 is 80-90um.  D50 for 110-125 um;  Um D90 is 135-150.  

4. Molybdenum powder's production methods  

1) The molybdenum bar blank is clamped in the insulated water-cooled jacket, so that the gap between the molybdenum bar blank near the end of the molybdenum disk electrode and the molybdenum disk electrode is 1mm;  

2) Electrize molybdenum disk electrode and molybdenum rod billet, increase the voltage until the molybdenum rod billet and molybdenum disk electrode discharge, during the discharge process, molybdenum rod billet near the end face of molybdenum disk electrode continuously melt into spherical molybdenum powder.
