Characteristic
Propyl alkyl propionate is often used as an intermediate in organic synthesis.
Chemical formula:Sn(OOCCH3)2
Formula weight: 236.80g/mol
Melting Point: 182-183°C
Boiling Point: 155℃
Density 2.31g/ml
Appearance: white to light beige powder
Sensitivity: Hygroscopic. Store under Nitrogen. Ambient temperatures.
Solubility: Decomposes in water. Soluble in dilute HClSoluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, dimethyl sulfoxide and methanol.
Application
Tin(II) acetate is used as a precursor in the production of tin anode, Sn-Cu bimetallic nanoparticles, high surface area tin oxide catalysts. It acts as Lewis acid catalysts for the esterification and transesterification reactions. It serves as an efficient catalytic system for carbon-hydrogen activation of methoxy group of anisole in presence of palladium(II) acetate. It plays an important role in stannous oral care compositions.
