China ranks first in renewable energy development and utilization in the world, providing strong support for green and low-carbon energy transformation, Zhang Jianhua, director of the National Energy Administration, said at a press conference of the State Council for Information Technology on March 30.

By the end of 2020, China's total installed scale of renewable energy power generation reached 930 million kilowatts, accounting for 42.4% of the total installed capacity, an increase of 14.6 percentage points compared with 2012.Renewable energy utilization continues to improve. In 2020, China's renewable energy generation will reach 2.2 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 29.5 percent of the total electricity consumption, an increase of 9.5 percentage points over 2012.

It is reported that China actively promote urban and rural organic waste and other biomass energy clean use, promote the improvement of living environment;We will actively explore photovoltaic sand control models that combine desert control, photovoltaic power generation, and farming, promote the combination of photovoltaic development and ecological restoration, and realize the coordinated development and complement of renewable energy development and ecological progress.

Zhang Jianhua said that China has formed a relatively complete industrial system of renewable energy technology.The hydropower sector has the world's largest independent design and manufacturing capacity of one million kilowatt water turbine units.Low wind speed wind power technology is at the forefront of the world, and more than 90% of the domestic wind power installed capacity adopts domestic wind turbines.The rapid iteration of photovoltaic power generation technology has refreshed the world record of battery conversion efficiency many times.

Zhang Jianhua said that renewable energy is green and low-carbon energy and an important part of China's multi-wheel drive energy supply system. It is of great significance for improving the energy structure, protecting the ecological environment, coping with climate change and realizing sustainable economic and social development.Going forward, we will set more aggressive goals for the development of new energy, vigorously promote the large-scale, high-proportion, high-quality and market-oriented development of renewable energy in the new era, accelerate the implementation of the action to replace renewable energy, enhance the consumption and storage capacity of new energy, and actively build a new type of power system with new energy as the mainstay.
