Gallium is a chemical element with the atomic number 31. Group 13 of the periodic table is a poor metal with similar properties to aluminum, indium and thallium.Gallium is very soft and malleable. It is bluish gray in solid state and silvery white in liquid state. Medical applications
After observing that cancer tissue was attractive to 67Ga, the national cancer society noted that stable gallium was effective in rodent tumors.This has been tested on cancer patients.Gallium is harmful to the kidneys when taken in 750mg/kg doses.Continuous infusion of gallium can reduce the toxicity of gallium to renal tubules.
