What are the characteristics and application scope of boron nitride?

Boron nitride is a white material that has the properties of graphite. It is a crystal made of nitrogen and boron atoms. There are different variants, the main use of hexagonal boron nitride and cubic boron nitride.

Boron nitride can be said to be very hard, and is commonly used as a composite ceramic, or high-grade refractory and superhard materials.

What are the characteristics of cubic boron nitride?

1. The product is hard, can be made into high speed cutting tools, geological exploration, oil drill.

2. Different shapes, can be used as high temperature, high pressure, insulation, heat dissipation components.

3. Packaging materials that can be used to prevent neutron radiation.

4. Special electrolytes and resistance materials that can be used at high temperature.

What are the applications of boron nitride powder?

1. According to the stability of most metal melts, such as steel, stainless steel, AL, FE, Ge, Bi, Si, Cu, etc., neither wetting nor action.  Therefore, it can be used as melting and evaporating metal crucible, boat, liquid metal conveying tube, rocket nozzle, high-power device base, used for high temperature coupling protection, melting metal pipes, pump parts, cast steel mold and high temperature electrical insulation materials.

2. According to the heat resistance and corrosion resistance, we can manufacture high-temperature components, rocket combustion chamber lining, spacecraft thermal shield, magnetic fluid generator corrosion resistance parts, etc.

3. According to the insulation, it is widely used in insulators of high voltage, high frequency electricity and plasma arc, insulators of various heaters, heating tubes and bushings, insulation and heat dissipation components of high temperature, high frequency and high voltage, and materials of high frequency electric furnace.

4. According to the thermal conductivity, it is used as a crucible for preparing gallium arsenide, gallium phosphide and indium phosphide, a heat sink for semiconductor packaging, a heat sink for phase shifting device, a heat dissipating tube for traveling wave tube collector, a P-type diffusion source and microwave window for semiconductor and integrated electrode.

In atomic reactors, used as neutron absorption material and shielding material.  It can also be used as infrared, microwave polarizer, infrared filter, optical path of laser instrument, ultra-high pressure pressure transfer material, etc.
