Vital Metals has signed a contract to mine rare earths in Canada

Vital Metals has announced that it has signed a definitive mining agreement with local company Det 'on Cho Nahanni Construction to begin work on the North T section of the Nechalacho project in Canada's Northwest Territories.



North T, the first deposit to be mined under the Nechalacho project, made significant progress in the production of rare earth oxides in 2021 and Nahanni Construction will be mobilized to the site by the end of March, the company said.


The Nechalacho Project is a high-grade light rare earth (fluorocerium) project located in Nechalacho in Canada's Northwest Territories with the potential to begin mining high-grade, easily accessible near-surface mineralized areas.The Nechalacho Rare Earth Project, located in the above area, measured, indicated and inferred a JORC resource of 94 mT and a Treo content of 1.46%.


"The signing of our mining contract in Yellowknife is an important step forward for Vital's Nechalacho project into production, and we are delighted to be working with Det 'on Cho Nahanni Construction, a company owned by the local Aboriginal people," said General Manager Geoff Atkins.
