Vanadium(V) oxide (vanadia) is the inorganic compound with the formula V2O5. Commonly known as vanadium pentoxide, it is a brown/yellow solid, although when freshly precipitated from aqueous solution, its colour is deep orange. Because of its high oxidation state, it is both an amphoteric oxide and an oxidizing agent.

Application


Vanadium is a nonferrous metal, vanadium pentoxide is widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry and other industries, mainly used in the smelting of iron vanadium.It is used as an alloy additive, accounting for more than 80% of the total consumption of vanadium pentoxide, followed by catalysts for organic chemical industry, namely catalysts, accounting for about 10% of the total amount, and inorganic chemicals, chemical reagents, enamel and magnetic materials accounting for about 10% of the total amount.
