Lightweight of new energy vehicles is accelerating, and the era of aluminum alloy profiles is coming.
Recently, Tesla, NIO, Xiaopeng and other new forces in car manufacturing have shown their results. In 2020, Tesla produced and delivered approximately 500,000 electric vehicles, of which 509,737 units were produced and 499,550 units were delivered.
Domestic new energy head car companies, December sales generally hit a new high;Nio delivered 7,007 units in December, the highest monthly delivery number for five consecutive months;Ideal Auto announced that Ideal One delivered a total of 6,126 vehicles in December, up 529.6% year on year, and set a new record for delivery in a single month.Xiaopeng's deliveries reached 5,700 in December, the best in its history.
According to the agency, the lightweight demand of new energy vehicles is extremely urgent, and the range of a pure electric vehicle can be increased by 2.5km for every 10kg reduction in the weight of the vehicle.
Tesla and NIO lead the industry in lightweight, while BYD, BAIC New Energy, Geely Auto and other traditional car companies have also increased their lightweight layout. Driven by the policy of energy conservation and emission reduction and the acceleration of electrification, automobile lightness is accelerating.
The chassis lightness is a new blue ocean, and the penetration rate of aluminum battery box, sub-frame, control arm, steering joint and other components is continuously increasing.
At the same time, thermal forming body parts are also being applied on a large scale. At present, the most mainstream lightweight materials are high strength steel and aluminum alloy materials.
In 2020, high strength steel and aluminum alloy will occupy more than 85% of the automotive lightweight market, of which aluminum alloy accounts for nearly 65%.
