Manganese aluminide (MnAl3)-Pellets

Product Description

Characteristic

Manganese Aluminide is generally immediately available in most volumes. High purity, submicron and nanopowder forms may be considered. Aluminide compounds contain aluminum and one or more electropositive elements. Since aluminum is adjactent to the nonmetals on the periodic table, it forms compounds with properties intermediate between those of a metallic alloy and an ionic compound.

Chemical formula:MnAl3

Molar mass:135.88 g/mol

Appearance:Metallic solid in various forms

Density:2.72 g/cm3

Solubility in water:insoluble

Thermal Conductivity: 163 W/m-K

Application

Al8Mn5 particles were in situ formed in an Mg-Al alloy with Mn addition. It was found that increasing Mn content or melting temperature promoted the formation of Al8Mn5, and also the segregation tendency of these in situ formed aluminide particles. A manganese aluminide spherical magnet was used as a projectile, with a diameter of 1 mm, it was accelerated by a so-called “micro” two-stage light gas gun in the velocity range of 3-4km/s in Fragmentation and dispersion of aluminum nitride ceramic plates by hypervelocity impact .
