Does lithium batteries last longer?

Lithium batteries can be fully charged for 300-500 charging cycles, beyond which the battery becomes useless, but this is for reference only.

Lithium battery life and charging times have nothing to do with the cycle of charging and discharging, that is, from zero charge to full charge times. A charging cycle is a process in which the battery is charged from full to empty and then from empty to full. It is not the same as a single charge.

For example, a lithium battery is used at half its full capacity on the first day, and then it is fully charged again. If return so the next day, use half to charge, total two charge down, this can only count as a charge cycle, not two.

I. Lithium metal battery discharge depth and rechargeable times

The rechargeable times are related to the discharge depth. The deeper the discharge depth, the less the rechargeable times. Rechargeable times * Discharge depth = total charge cycle completion times. The higher the total charge cycle completion times, the higher the battery life, i.e., rechargeable times * discharge depth = actual battery life

II. Overdischarge, and large charge and discharge current of lithium batteries

Any form of overcharge will lead to serious damage to the performance of lithium batteries, or even explosion. Overcharge of batteries should be avoided.

At the same time, avoid deep discharges below 2V or 2.5V, which will quickly and permanently damage the lithium-ion battery. Internal metal plating may also occur, causing a short circuit and making the battery unusable or unsafe. Also, avoid large charging and discharging currents, which place excessive stress on the battery.

III. Lithium oxide battery overheated or undercooled environment

Temperature has great influence on the life of lithium battery. Subzero temperatures are likely to cause lithium-ion batteries to burn up as soon as electronics are turned on, or overheat. The environment will reduce the capacity of the battery. Digital devices can be turned off in the hot sun or in a hot car, as lithium-ion batteries age faster when operating at temperatures above 60C. Lithium battery charging temperature range: 0-45 ° C, lithium ion discharge temperature range: 0-60 ° C.

IV. Long time full power, no power state

Too high or too low power state, are not conducive to maintain the life of lithium battery. When it is in the state of no or low power for a long time, the resistance of the electronic movement inside the lithium battery will increase, resulting in the reduction of the battery capacity. It is better for the lithium battery to be in the middle state of power, that is, under 50% power, for the longest battery life. In general, maintaining a charge of 10-90% is good for battery protection.
