Copper bromide is a kind of inorganic compound. Its chemical formula is CuBr2. It's Chinese alias copper dibromide and is directly known in English as Copper(II) bromide, anhydrous. Copper bromide can be used as an analytical reagent and catalyst.

Pale gray or black crystalline or crystalline powder, deliquescent. Highly soluble in water. Soluble in ethanol, acetone, pyridine, ammonia. It is poisonous and inedible.

Copper 11 bromide characteristic

Pale gray or black crystalline or crystalline powder, deliquescent. Highly soluble in water. Soluble in ethanol, acetone, pyridine, ammonia. Insoluble in benzene. When burned, bromine is released to form cuprous bromide. The solution is acidic. It is prepared by reacting hydrobromic acid with copper oxide.

Copper 2 bromide preparation

The reactive cupric oxide was dissolved in hot (avoid boiling) hydrobromic acid, filtered through a glass filter, and immediately the filtrate was concentrated in vacuum over sulfuric acid to solidify the target product.

Copper iii bromide application

Used as photographic sensitizer.

Used as brominating agent in organic synthesis.

Copper bromide can also be used in copper vapor lasers, when the hydrogen bromide placed in the conduit reacts with molten copper under the condition of discharge to form copper bromide vapor. The laser, which produces yellow or green light, is used in dermatology.

Cupric bromide security

Copper bromide is toxic and inedible, causing adverse effects on the central nervous system, brain, eyes, liver and kidneys, as well as irritation of the skin, eyes and respiratory tract.
