Calcium fluoride is the inorganic compound of the elements calcium and fluorine with the formula CaF2. It is a white insoluble solid. It occurs as the mineral fluorite (also called fluorspar), which is often deeply coloured owing to impurities.

Application


Multiple uses in the fiberglass, ceramic, welding rod, glass industry as well as hydrofluoric acid production. Also used in blending with burned lime & dolomite for the steel industry. Flux in ferrous metallurgy.


Calcium fluoride is used as component of electrolyte, fluxing agent for aluminum metallurgy. It is used in glass and fluorescent lamps industry. It has dental applications.
