In the second quarter of the year, downward pressure on the economy increased significantly due to the complex and evolving international environment and the impact of the domestic epidemic, a spokesman for the National Bureau of Statistics said on July 15.    Its main characteristics: first, the second quarter of China's economy withstood the pressure to achieve positive growth;  Second, on a monthly basis, the economy has gradually picked up since May.  Third, employment and prices were generally stable.  Fourth, foreign trade is stable;  Fifth, the trend of industrial upgrading continued.  On the whole, in the second quarter, China's economy overcame multiple pressure and challenges, and major indicators stopped the downward trend and realized stabilization and recovery.

In June, the value added of large-scale industrial production increased by 3.9 percent year-on-year in real terms.  On a month-on-month basis, the value added of large-scale industrial enterprises increased by 0.84 percent in June compared with the previous month.  From January to June, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 3.4 percent year-on-year.  


In June, the value added of mining grew 8.7 per cent year on year, manufacturing 3.4 per cent and electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply 3.3 per cent.  


By type of economy, the added value of state-owned holding enterprises increased by 3.1% in June.  Shareholding enterprises increased by 4.0 percent, and enterprises invested by foreign investors and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan enterprises increased by 3.6 percent.  Private businesses grew by 3.0 percent.


By sector, 31 out of 41 major industries saw year-on-year growth in value added in June.  Among them, coal mining and washing industry grew by 11.2%, oil and natural gas mining industry by 3.6%, non-metallic mineral products industry by 3.7%, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry by 0.6%, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry by 4.9%, general equipment manufacturing industry by 1.1%, special equipment manufacturing industry by 6.0%.  Automobile manufacturing grew 16.2 percent, railway, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing grew 6.7 percent, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing grew 12.9 percent, computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing grew 11 percent, and power and heat production and supply grew 3.2 percent.  


By product, output of 294 out of 617 products rose year-on-year in June.  Steel 118.42 million tons, down 2.3%;  Cement 195.58 million tons, down 12.9%;  Ten non-ferrous metals 5.7 million tons, up 3.2%;  Ethylene 2.4 million tons, down 1.3%;  The number of automobiles reached 2.577 million, an increase of 26.8%, among which 605,000 were new energy vehicles, an increase of 120.8%.  Electricity generation 709 billion kilowatt hours, up 1.5%;  Crude oil processing volume was 54.94 million tons, down 9.7%.  


In June, the product sales rate of industrial enterprises was 96.0%, down 1.1 percentage points year-on-year.  Industrial enterprises realized export delivery value of 1406.6 billion yuan, a nominal increase of 15.1% year on year.
